About
I didn’t just study in this world; I grew up in it.
I’ve spent my entire life immersed in the classical and new music world. Born into a musical family—my father was a world-renowned composer and conductor, and my mother was a BAFTA award-winning television producer and music educator—I grew up attending rehearsals, recording sessions, editing suites, and workshops. This gave me an instinctive understanding of how music works, both on stage and behind the scenes, long before I started my own formal training.
Training
I attended a specialist music school (The Purcell School) from age 11, where I was already composing and playing multiple instruments. I trained as a cellist (Boston University) before pivoting to voice. My early vocal training was a juggling act—completing my postgraduate diploma at Trinity College London while simultaneously diving into intensive performance and movement training (The Knack at ENO Baylis) and working as a classroom music teacher. I continued my training on the Opera Pathway at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and finally at the Peabody Conservatory.
Performance & Artistic Work
My performance work spans early music to world premieres by internationally recognized composers. I have performed as a featured soloist with organizations including the Baltimore Symphony, Washington Bach Consort, Tanglewood Festival Chorus, and at the Aldeburgh Festival in the UK. I also founded the vocal ensemble hexaCollective, presenting programs ranging from Monteverdi’s Vespers and Britten operas to US premieres by emerging composers like Joanna Lee. As a freelance ensemble singer, I perform with professional choirs and new music ensembles across the region and am a core member of The Emmanuel Choir in Baltimore.
Teaching, Production & Work Behind the Scenes
I’ve been a classroom music teacher in both the UK and US (often as the sole educator), designing curriculums and directing programs from the ground up. I’ve been the score reader for a television series with Simon Rattle and directed cameras (without monitors!) for the Elliott Carter Centenary at Tanglewood. I’ve also served as a musical assistant and/or producer on recordings released by labels like Deutsche Grammophon and recently produced recording projects for Sean Shepherd and the Grossman Ensemble.
Mentorship & Artistic Programs
I have a deep, long-standing relationship with the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme Composition and Performance Course, where over two decades I’ve worked on everything from logistical support to artist mentoring. Similarly, I spent many years at the Tanglewood Music Center doing everything from opera supertitles to serving as Assistant Orchestra Manager and Office Coordinator—a role that included liaising with composers and the Artistic Director for the TMC 75th Anniversary commissioning projects.
Today
Today, I serve as Founder and Artistic Director for both Pitch Craft Collective and Go Compose North America, creating new spaces dedicated to the craft of making and performing music. I also sing with The Emmanuel Choir in Baltimore.
I bring this panoramic view—educator, performer, producer, director—to my work. Whether you are following a traditional route or carving a new one, I’m here to help you build and navigate a path that works for you.
